Creating items for Laced with Sunshine is all about bringing joy and whimsy to others. I make a large array of designs for earrings, cups, and other accessories, but daisies and locally inspired designs are what I'm known for.
I originally started selling crafts in 2011 from paintings to vinyl crafting and now laser cut jewelry. I have always loved crafting since I was young, so my business came to fruition organically. After I purchased a laser three years ago, my craft started evolving. I would make cute earrings for myself to wear to work to surprise my students, which led to family, friends, and co-workers asking for some. After I saw the joy this brought to people, I moved on to sharing my craft with the public.
Daisy Earrings
How can I pick just one? Getting my nails done or getting in a workout are some of my favorite ways to "physically" self care. I also love buying a new art piece or candle for my work studio.

Because I'm an educator, Laced with Sunshine is an evening, weekend, and summer operation. I love teaching and I love that I have Laced with Sunshine to push me creatively. I get a lot of inspiration from both. Most afternoons and weekends you can find me in my office working on new designs, packing orders, or putting together earrings while I'm watching a favorite show or listening to an audiobook.
I love teaching and running Laced with Sunshine so I'm lucky to have my dream gig right now :) When I retire from teaching, I'd love to work during the summer as a National Parks educator and I hope that I'm still part of the maker community with Laced with Sunshine.
To me, there is nothing better than having an idea (even if it's weird) and being able to make it a reality. That's the motivation that pushed me to buy and use my laser. I'm inspired by 60's & 70's fashion and a lot of my items end up tagged as "Groovy. " One of my favorite parts about running Laced with Sunshine is being able to work with clients and helping them make their ideas a reality too.
Because most of my work for Laced with Sunshine happens in the afternoon after school, I have made it a habit to get a 30-minute workout in after work before I get into work for LWS. Doing this helps me reset and reenergizes me to take on my afternoon of work.
The biggest measure of success for me lately has been the connections that I have made within the artist community and the community at large.
I had to let go of the idea that no one would take my silly earring business seriously.
Once I had that out of my head I could see how much people enjoyed my products and that I could create meaningful relationships with other small businesses.
