What do you make:
Currently I am making soy candles and wax melts. I carry a variety of different style and sizes of vessels. I also do custom orders (bridal showers and memorial candles) and private labeling for boutiques and spas. Besides candles I make room sprays, car and room diffusers, fire starters, and hopefully I will be making incense again soon!

A typical day in your life:
My day starts off bright and early. We live on a large farm and have a lot of animals that must be taken care of first. Then it’s a brisk walk across my back yard to the Candle Cottage… where the real magic happens. I typically work for 4/5 hours and then it’s back to farm and wife life for this gal 😊
Your favorite color:
I’m a pretty colorful person but I do have a fondness for purple and black.
The best compliment you ever received:
“I can smell you all the way across the field!!” — talking about my candle booth of course!
What made you start:
When I was a kid, me and my mom made this cute pink cat candle. She was always really creative, and we would do a lot of different things together. As an adult, I remembered how much I loved making the candle with her and wanted to get into a hobby where I could relax. It soon became way more than a hobby!
Values you bring to your work:
LOVE… I put love in everything I create. I want people to feel like they are getting a little piece of me whenever they are buying my products.
How you continue to learn/grow:
I follow a lot of other candle makers. One of the things I love the most about working with candles is that there is so much creativity that you can incorporate into every design. From the labels to the scents, I can customize an entire experience. I also love seeing what new techniques and products other candlers are making.
The best part of what you do:
I love that it allows me the freedom to be creative as I want. There are literally thousands of ways you can make a candle different and I want to do ALL of them!
The most challenging part of what you do:
Getting people to purchase something that they can’t smell online. If it is a returning customer, then it isn’t as bad because they more than likely have sampled most of my products, but new customers struggle with trusting what the scent is. Online has been a challenge but through COVID I have had to step up my game and take some crash courses from other small business owners on online sales.
